Why might you need a Notary Public

In New Zealand a Notary Public is a senior lawyer who after completing additional training has been appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury in England to become a Notary Public.  This authority to appoint Notaries dates back to the 16th Century.

A Notary Public has the power to verify and authenticate documents, administer oaths and witness signatures. The Notary signs and adds their official seal to documents which will make those documents acceptable to the courts or other public authorities in overseas countries.

There is a directory of registered Notaries Public in New Zealand so if you need to find one visit their website http://notarypublic.org.nz
